Review of "Boo” by The Headless Critic
Boo – 2019
Production by: Cyclamen Films
“It works if you work it, keep coming back.”
With her seven year sobriety chip in her pocket, Devi (Rakefet Abergel) walked out of her addiction meeting with her fellow addicts Ava (Parisa Fitz-Henley) and Grace (Laura Wiggins) reminding her how far she’s come. When her friends leave her for the night Devi awaits her boyfriend Jared (Josh Kelly) to pick her up. Bloody and near hysterical when he arrives, Jared tries to find out what happened to his Boo (Rakefet Abergel). Through flashbacks we find out what happened in her horrible night where everything was thrown out the window. All it takes is "just one sip."
Tired of Hollywood not offering her a role she can sink her teeth into, Rafefet Abergel writes, directs and stars in her own short film creating a multi-layered character that isn’t everything you expect, in a role typically played by less interesting actors who don’t break the mold. Boo is a horror mystery with a few laughs and a lot of fun in a family oriented short film. Rakefet Abergal proves herself an interesting character to watch for all the right reasons that in this horror short turns out to be so wrong. "Why do you smell so damn good?"
